Harvard Transit Service Fall of 2021 Changes

Harvard Transit is happy to welcome back students to campus, we look forward to providing safe, reliable, and efficient service to the entire Harvard Community. There have been several improvements to our service we would like to inform you about:

The new Quad – SEC Direct

We are excited to announce the creation of a new route which will provide transportation from the Quad and Yard to the Stadium Complex and the new SEC building and back. The route will operate roughly every 20 minutes from 7:00AM until 7:40 PM Monday - Friday. The departure times have been created to provide efficient transportation for class start times. Schedules can be found at Transportation.harvard.edu.

This new service will be replacing our Barry’s Corner service during the academic year. We will continue to operate Barry’s Corner during Winter and Summer breaks.

New and moved Bus Stops

We are adding a new bus stop: Harvard Square Southbound. This stop will be at 6 Brattle Street near the Harvard COOP.

The Barry’s Corner Bus stop will be moved a short distance to the new road, Academic Way North. It will also be renamed Barry’s Corner North Bound

We are adding a new bus stop: Barry’s Corner South Bound which will be on Academic Way North.

We are adding a new bus stop located at the SEC on Stadium Way. This will replace our old bus stop at the i-Lab.

New Real Time Tracker

This summer we have switched our real time tracking software to Passio Go. This new tracker will provide more accurate next stop arrival predictions and is more reliable.

Allston Campus Express is now: Allston Loop

We are rebranding the Allston Campus Express as the Allston Loop. The route is being adjusted to now service the SEC building instead of the i-Lab stop. The new schedule can be found here.

Face Covering Requirements and other Covid 19 Restrictions

At present face coverings will still be required on all Harvard Transit vehicles. However we have lifted all capacity restrictions. We ask that passengers continue to be safe and adhere to any changes in guidelines as they arise.

Harvard Evening Van App

To access the Harvard Evening Van Service users can download the Harvard Evening Van app from the app store. This service is designed to supplement the fixed route service for people going places the fixed route buses do not go. We ask riders to take the bus when possible.

 

To help keep Harvard healthy, Transit Services has implemented the following guidelines and requirements.  Passengers should: 

  1. Put on a mask or face covering prior to boarding the bus and wear it throughout the duration of the trip. 
  1. Enter and exit through the rear doors only. (note: vans only have a single front door)  
  1. Maintain physical distance from the driver by not crossing the yellow line that cordons off the driver's compartment. If boarding a vehicle from the front, do not linger near the driver.

In addition to our expectations for our riders, we have taken a number of steps to improve the health and safety of our drivers and our vehicles. 

  1. Driver safety shields have been installed 
  1. High touch point surfaces throughout our vehicles are disinfected regularly. Schedules have been adjusted to allow for this. 
  1. Drivers are required to wear masks. They are issued daily COVID-19 kits which include cleaning and other supplies intended to keep them safe. 
  1. Windows and hatches are kept open at all times, weather permitting.  
  1. Drivers are regularly tested for COVID-19.  

We appreciate your flexibility regarding our new policies and schedule. We also anticipate the possibility of further changes as the semester progresses. This website will be kept up to date with all our most current service information.

    0 JFK Bus Stop

    The bus stop at 0 JFK street is being temporarily relocated to the corner of Mt. Auburn Street and JFK street.
