Longwood Medical Area/Cambridge Reciprocal Parking Agreement

Longwood Medical Area/Cambridge Reciprocal Parking Agreement

Parking Services is always striving to make parking as convenient as possible for the University community. To help accommodate those employees who hold Longwood Medical Area parking permits, but have occasional University business on the Cambridge or Allston Campuses, Parking Services has modified its regulations concerning this matter.

Harvard employees holding valid Harvard Medical School day permits are authorized to park in the following areas on a space-available basis, weekdays between 7:00am and 11:00pm:

  • 10 Everett Street Garage
  • 52 Oxford Street Garage
  • Broadway Garage - Levels 3 and Above
  • Business School Lot

Any exception or special request must be pre-approved through the Parking Office by email.

HMS visitors holding any other LMA permit that is not a monthly day permit must purchase a visitor’s permit from our self-service Online Daily Permit purchase system, or from the Parking Office at Smith Campus Center (formerly Holyoke Center) 8th Floor, 1350 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge. Any vehicle parked on University property without a valid permit displayed is subject to ticket and tow. These regulations are enforced on a 24-hour basis, including weekends and University holidays.

Similarly, those holding valid annual Harvard University Cambridge/Allston permits are authorized to park in the Quad Garage located at 200 Longwood Avenue on a space-available basis, weekdays 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. This reciprocal parking is only for short term business related meetings on the HMS campus, not full-day parking. If you have business in the Longwood Medical Area that is not in a Harvard building you should plan to park at a local public parking facility. The Quad booth attendant will provide Cambridge/Allston permit holders a permit to place on their dashboard as well as a temporary access card.

Due to limited availability of parking spaces at the HLC, the Medical School Parking Office encourages you to provide a one day advanced notice prior to your arrival to the Harvard Longwood Campus. Reciprocal parking space can be reserved by calling the HMS Commuter Services and Parking Office at 617-432-1111 or by emailing parking@hms.harvard.edu. The HMS Commuter Services and Parking Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Cambridge/Allston visitors holding any other permit that is not an annual permit must reserve a parking space using a Harvard 33 digit billing code at https://internal.parking.med.harvard.edu/default2.aspx.

Please note: Valet parking will be in effect at the Quad Garage as needed. Any vehicle parked on University property without a valid permit displayed is subject to ticket and tow. These regulations are enforced on a 24-hour basis, including weekends and University holidays.
